Adult Education

 
These services are federally and state funded through Adult and Literacy Programs and the State of Wyoming, administered by the Wyoming Community College Commission.

ACES

The Adult Career and Education System (ACES) is here to help you develop skills necessary for continued education or meaningful employment through combined training in academics, communication skills, and college and career transitions. ACES is open fall, spring and summer semesters, and we offer daytime and evening classes.

Students must be at least 16 years of age. Classes are non-credit.

Free Courses We Offer

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE)
    For individuals wanting to upgrade basic reading, writing, math and computer literacy skills.
  • High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) Preparation 
    For students pursuing HSEC instruction, includes official practice testing, and college and career readiness transitions. Testing options at LCCC include HiSet™ and the 2014 GED® Test.
  • Adult Secondary Education (ASE)
    For students who have their high school diploma or equivalency and want to improve their basic skills to upgrade their employment opportunities or pursue further education. Classes offered include reading, writing, math and college and career transitions. 
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
    For non-native English speakers wanting help understanding, speaking, reading and writing the English language for the workplace or life skills. Become more integrated into society by learning about American culture, customs and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.  

Steps to Success

  • Attend orientation (See the featured events at left for upcoming dates.) Call 307.637.2450 to schedule.
  • Take a placement test to determine entry level.
  • Meet with an instructor to develop an educational plan and set your goals.
  • Attend class.

Classroom Hours

  • Mondays through Thursdays: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Closed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. 
ABE, HSEC Preparation and ESOL services also are provided at the Eastern Laramie County Outreach Center in Pine Bluffs. Other outreach locations include Wyoming Family Literacy, GOAL/LYFE and the Laramie County Detention Center. Please contact us for additional information.

    For non-native English speakers wanting help understanding, speaking, reading and writing the English language for the workplace or life skills. Learn American culture and customs and prepare for the naturalization process to become a U.S. citizen.
  • Literacy
    For adult students functioning below the fourth-grade level in reading and math.

  •  Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
