ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) 

Offered at the Cheyenne Campus and the Albany County Campus

Learn to communicate in everyday situations and build a larger vocabulary through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. These non-credit courses will help you develop these skills to meet the basic needs of independent daily living, as well as to prepare for additional levels of ESOL courses.

Testing and Instruction

Students are given a BEST Plus language test at the beginning and end of each semester. This test helps the instructors to develop an educational plan that will optimize the student's learning experience.

Instruction consists of the following:
  • lectures
  • group discussions
  • individual and group work
  • reading newspapers
  • watching videos
  • field trips in the community
  • computer lab assignments
At the Albany County Campus, the TLC computer lab is available for students use with a variety of ESOL computer programs. These programs include: The Oxford Picture Dictionary, Rosetta Stone, and AM English.
