Jason Ficca, Head Coach, 7th Year

Jason Ficca
Coach Ficca enters his seventh season as the head coach of the Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team. Under his direction, the Golden Eagles claimed back-to-back South Sub-Region titles in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. He was named South Sub-Region Coach of the Year following the 2009-2010 season.
 
Prior to coming to LCCC, Ficca spent four years at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tenn., where he served as head coach for two seasons. In his last season, Ficca led his team to a 20-12 record including a winning record against nationally ranked opponents. He was honored as the 2006-2007 TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year. As an assistant coach at Martin Methodist, he helped lead the Redhawks to 22 victories, a top-25 national ranking, the TranSouth Conference Tournament championship, and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
 
Prior to his four seasons in Tennessee, Ficca served as assistant coach at the University of Idaho in 2001-2002. From 1998 to 2001, Ficca served as head coach at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore.
 
Ficca earned his bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in sports and recreation management from the University of Idaho. Coach Ficca and his wife, Carmen, have a daughter, Isabella.

DeWayne Saulsberry, Assistant Coach, 7th Year
DeWayne Saulsberry
DeWayne Saulsberry is in his seventh season as assistant men’s basketball coach at Laramie County Community College.
 
A native of Central City, Ky., Saulsberry played high school basketball at Muhlenberg North High School where he earned All-Conference, region, district, and state honors, as well as being named third Region Player of the Year. He played basketball at St. Catharine Junior College where he earned All-Conference honors. The Patriots were ranked 10th in the nation and went on to compete in the NJCAA tournament. Saulsberry then moved on to play Division I basketball at Southeast Missouri State University.
 
Saulsberry earned his bachelor’s degree in recreation at Southeast Missouri State University and his master’s degree in leadership from Liberty University. DeWayne and his wife, Danielle, have two children, Olivia and Sophia.

Chris McGill, Volunteer Assistant, 2nd Year
Chris McGillChris McGill is in his second season as assistant men’s basketball coach at Laramie County Community College. He rejoins the collegiate basketball community after 12 years in corporate management and sales.

A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, McGill played high school basketball at Damien Memorial High School where he earned All-Conference and state honors. He played basketball at McCook Community College, then moved on to play Division I basketball at Youngstown State University, and eventually finished his collegiate career at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
