A Musical Monument for Gettysburg

Tue, Apr 23, 2013 starting at 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Free, Cheyenne Civic Center, 510 W. 20th St.

By the LCCC Wind Ensemble

The Battle of Gettysburg was the turning point of the American Civil War. Many historians agree that it was on these hallowed grounds that our nation was saved. The Battle of Gettysburg changed the direction of the war and the morale of the nation. Now, on Gettysburg’s 150th anniversary, we forge a musical tribute to those three hot days in July of 1863, when a small Pennsylvania town was the scene of hard-fought battles, esteemed bravery and the bloodshed of 51,000 men. Join the LCCC instrumental ensembles as they play a musical tribute to honor our country’s heritage and to ensure that the events and impact of this monumental battle do not fade as they drift farther back in the march of time.

Special guest Cheyenne Mayor and Vietnam Veteran Rick Kaysen will read the Gettysburg Address to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the historic Battle of Gettysburg.

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted for the COMEA House.
