College selects new full-time athletics director

Pete Cautilli starts April 1.

Laramie County Community College has hired its first full-time director of athletics and recreation. Pete Cautilli joins the college on April 1, after serving various associate athletic director roles at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.

Cautilli has 26 years of experience in collegiate athletics, with specific strengths in administration, business, fiscal management, marketing, facilities and teaching. Before moving to Louisville, Cautilli worked at Colorado State University and Idaho State University.

“Pete joins our already strong team in Athletics,” says LCCC’s Vice President of Student Services Judy Hay. “He will bring the P.E. facility management and campus recreation into the job to help LCCC build on our strengths and become strong in some new areas.”

Among his first tasks, Cautilli expects to spend some time getting to know the people he’ll be working with. “I’d like to get to know the staff,” he says. “Get to know the environment, the culture and the people.” He adds that he’d like to hit the ground running, and he’s already been involved in the hiring of LCCC’s next volleyball coach.

As an avid fly-fisherman who comes out West every year to fish, Cautilli says he had the most important items packed first for his move to Cheyenne.

“My fishing gear is always packed and ready to go,” he says. “It’s on my list to bring out first.”
