The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles men’s
basketball team got back into South Sub region
basketball with a road game
Wednesday, Jan. 8, against the Rattlers from
Otero Junior College.
The Golden Eagles (12-6) came into the game
on a two-game
losing streak and were looking to get back on track against
the Rattlers, but
the Eagles were snake-bit with poor free-throw shooting.
The Rattlers struck an
Golden Eagles got off to a
nice a start early on and set the
tempo for the game. The Golden Eagles
took a 41-40 lead into halftime.
Leading about midway through the
second half, the Golden
Eagles were called for a technical foul that gave
the Rattlers momentum. The
Rattlers went on an 11-0 run and gained control
of the game. The Golden Eagles
were 26-62 from the field for 41.9 percent,
and the Rattlers caught fire and
shot 55.2 percent from the field. The
Golden Eagles shot a season low from the
free-throw line, going 16-29 for
55.2 percent. The Rattlers were 100 percent
from the line (15-15).
Sophomore Deon Edwin led the way for the Golden Eagles with
eight rebounds, eight assists and a steal. As a team, the Golden
a season-high 18 assists on the night.
With the third loss in a
row, the Golden Eagles drop to 12-6
on the year and 3-2 in the South Sub
Region play. Up next, the Golden Eagles
hit the road Saturday, Jan. 11, to
Trinidad, Colo., for a matchup with Trinidad
State Junior College. Tipoff
