The Laramie County Community College
men's basketball team claimed its third south subregion victory of the season after beating the Otero Junior College Rattlers 68-67 on Jan. 9 at LCCC.
LCCC erased a 12-point deficit in the second half. LCCC’s Deshon Portley tied the game at 67-67 on a pull up jumper near the free-throw line with 53 seconds to go. After a defensive stand LCCC regained the ball with 39 seconds remaining. The Eagles held the ball for one shot. Portley drove the lane and found Ude Ifeanyichukwu near the basket. In Ifeanyichukwus’ attempt to shoot, he was fouled with 3.4 seconds remaining. Ifeanyichukwu missed the first free throw and made the second. Otero’s desperation three-point attempt by Chris Golden missed the mark as time expired.
