Tuesday, October 02, 2012
$5,000 grant for LCCC Foundation will allow for hands-on event Nov. 3.

Laramie County Community College is giving young girls more reason to get involved in math, science, engineering and technology, with help from the CenturyLink Foundation.

The CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to the LCCC Foundation, specifically for the Girls for STEM: Ready, Set, Go! program.

The STEM camp is for girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. It’s a hands-on event designed to give girls an opportunity to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math – or STEM. The girls also will interact with female role models from the community who are working in the field. The camp is from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the LCCC Training Center.

Pre-registration is required for the STEM camp as seating is limited. Please call 307.778.1236 to register.
