Men's basketball team wins easily in home opener

Golden Eagles start at LCCC with 30-point victory over Eastern Wyoming College.

The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team defeated Eastern Wyoming College 86-56 Tuesday in the Golden Eagles' home opener. LCCC's Travis Shepherd (6-5, SF, SO) scored 22 points, and Terrance Dent (6-2, SG, SO) added 19 points in the 30-point victory. LCCC broke the game open midway through the first half when Shepherd’s 3-point basket with 12 minutes to play broke a 12-12 tie. LCCC ended the half on a 31-13 run and led 43-25 at intermission.

Eastern Wyoming scored the first six points of the second half and cut the deficit to 12, but the Eagles responded with a 7-0 run to increase the lead to 19 points. From there, LCCC steadily pulled away and earned an 86-56 victory, the first of the season.
