The Wyoming Early Childhood Association (WYECA) selected Scott Moncrief as the 2013 Friend of the Young Child.

Moncrief is an instructor in the education program at Laramie County Community College.

WYECA, a state affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, works to promote excellence in early childhood education.

Moncrief was nominated for his efforts with pre-service early education professionals as an instructor at LCCC. He is responsible for teaching classes for aspiring child development associates, ensuring national certification through the required college-level coursework.

He served as a board member for WYECA for many years, including a term as president.

Michelle Adrich was thrilled at the honor her colleague received. “Scott is a leader in early childhood education in Wyoming,” she said. “He is an invaluable resource for policy makers, aspiring and experienced early childhood education professionals, as well as childcare professionals in our community and in the state.”
