The Laramie County Community College men’s rodeo team
took 10th place with 60 points in the Casper College Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., April 19-21. The women’s team did not place.
The LCCC rodeo team had some outstanding individual performances. Katelynn Ellis won the long round with a time of 2.3 seconds and placed fourth in the average in breakaway roping out of 87 entries and earned 80 points. Hayli Bonham placed seventh in barrel racing out of 62 entries and eighth in team roping out of 68 entries. BreeAnna Roberts was 10th in the average in goat tying with a combined time of 18.2 seconds in two rounds. Dillon Simonson placed sixth out of 43 entries in steer wrestling earning 60 points. He was sixth in the long round and fourth in the short round with times of 6.4 seconds and 5.4 seconds respectively. Cassidy Mueller placed 10th in the average in team roping with a time of 8.8 seconds in the long round and did not qualify in the short round.
· Dillon Simonson tied for sixth in steer wrestling with a combined time of 11.8.
· Katelyn Ellis tied for third in breakaway roping with a combined time of 2.3.
The overall region standings have the women’s team in 10th place with 425 points, and the men’s team in 10th place with 600 points.
Three individuals have a mathematical chance to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo: Dillon Simonson and Peter Walnofer in the steer wrestling and Hayli Bonham in the breakaway roping. They’ll need good performances in the final rodeo of the season at the University of Wyoming Rodeo, May 3-5 in Laramie. Rodeo results can be found at www.collegerodeo.com
