Emergency exercise to take place on LCCC campus

Friday, May 21, 2010
The Health Science and Physical Education buildings will be closed Saturday for the drill.

Laramie County Emergency Management, along with 11 other emergency response agencies, will be conducting an extensive interagency critical incident exercise from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Laramie County Community College campus. For the purposes of this exercise, please note that the Health Science and Physical Education buildings will be closed.

The public is advised that a number of law enforcement and emergency response teams will be on the campus with tactical equipment and weapons with simulation munitions to fully test their response to an emergency situation involving firearms and explosives. The broad-based exercise will involve elements of local law enforcement, medical, fire, campus security, several LCCC organizations, media and other governmental and private agencies, both on and off campus.

Access to the campus will be limited during the exercise for the safety of the participants and the general public. Some limited activities will be occurring on the campus during the exercise and not related to it, and the areas of campus needed for those classes and events will be open.
