Equine team rides in first hunt show of the spring semester

Nine athletes placed.
 
The Laramie County Community College hunt seat show team placed sixth and third in the Colorado College hunt seat shows on Feb. 9-10 in Fountain, Colo. The Golden Eagles had nine athletes place in the competition.

Individual results are as follows:
· Natalie Fry placed first in walk, trot, and canter equitation.
· Emily Smith placed first and third in beginner equitation.
· Nicole Blankenship placed third both days in novice fences and first in novice equitation.
· Morgan Carmichael placed third and fourth in intermediate fences and fourth in intermediate equitation.
· Emily Hamilton placed fifth and sixth in intermediate fences and third and fifth in intermediate equitation.
· Abby Carpenter placed third and seventh in walk, trot, canter equitation.
· Lauren May placed fourth in novice fences and third and seventh in novice equitation.
· Amanda Heller placed fourth and seventh in walk, trot, canter equitation.
· Jessie Johnson placed fifth in beginner equitation and placed fourth in walk, trot, and canter equitation.

Three Golden Eagle riders qualified for regional competition. To qualify, riders must place in the top two in their respective class to enable them to ride at the zone competition in Parker, Colo., later this year. The qualified Golden Eagle riders are Morgan Carmichael, Natalie Fry and Jessie Johnson.

The team’s next event is a hunt show hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., February 16-17.
