The LCCC men's basketball team traveled to Riverton on Feb. 19 and defeated the Central Wyoming College Rustlers 75-70. Though the Golden Eagles led at halftime 36-27, the Rustlers came out for the second half with determination and tied the score at 53 points. The Golden Eagles switched to a man-to-man defense and were able to regain the lead to win the game.

LCCC extended its win streak to eight games, including five consecutive road victories, on Feb. 20 at Western Wyoming Community College with a 75-68 victory. Both teams struggled offensively in the first half. Western connected on 33 percent of its field goal attempts while the Eagles could only manage 36 percent from the field. However, LCCC capitalized on 11 first half turnovers by the Mustangs to build a 27-21 halftime advantage.
Both teams heated up in the second half. The Golden Eagles shot 56 percent from the field while the Mustangs shot 60 percent. However, LCCC was able to double its halftime lead and led by 12 with eight minutes remaining. WWCC went on a 12-2 run over the next six minutes and trailed by two with two minutes remaining. LCCC's Davin Anderson made one of two free-throw attempts and Terrance Dent finished a three-point play with 1:19 remaining to put the Eagles ahead by six. LCCC made four out of four free-throw attempts in the final minute to seal the victory.

The Golden Eagles travel to Trinidad, Colo., on Feb. 25 to play the Trinidad State Jr. College Trojans (16-10, 3-3 Region IX South) at 7 p.m.
