Volleyball team posts 31-8 record

The Golden Eagles finish the season ranked 19th in the nation
The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles volleyball team went 2-2 in the double-elimination Region IX Tournament in Riverton, Wyo.

On Nov. 4, the Golden Eagles won their first match against Dawson Community College in four games, 21-25, 25-8, 25-9, 25-12. Kayli Jordan had 23 digs, Tatyana Lukyanenko had 19 kills and two aces, and Shelby Johnson added 38 assists and two aces.

On Nov. 5, LCCC squared off with Northwest College. The Trappers beat the Golden Eagles in three games, 23-25, 12-25, 14-25. Tatyana Lukyanenko had nine kills and five digs, and Shelby Johnson had 21 assists and 12 digs.

On Nov. 6, LCCC beat Eastern Wyoming College in three games, 25-8, 25-19, 25-9. Janae Kindall had six blocks and 10 kills, Tatyana Lukyanenko had 16 kills and seven digs, and Kelsey Skaar added four blocks and three aces.

In the Golden Eagles’ second match of the day, Central Wyoming College beat the Golden Eagles in three, 19-25, 22-25, 14-25, and knocked LCCC out of the tournament. Lukyanenko had 12 kills and 11 digs, and Breanna Curry added six kills and one ace.

The volleyball team had a great season, going 31-8 overall, and for the first time in team history was nationally ranked. The team ended the season ranked 19th in the nation.
