Golden Eagles hold on against Iowa Lakes
It took a little time for the Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team
to settle into its first home game this season on Sept. 6. The Golden Eagles (3-1) hosted Iowa Lakes Community College (Emmetsburg, Iowa), also 3-1, and walked away with the 1-0 advantage.
Taylor Hockley (Casper, Wyo.) got on a through ball from Seyit Mejia-Bello (Bogota, Colombia) in the 75th minute that would prove to be enough for the Golden Eagles. Jesse Bradley (Commerce City, Colo.) was credited with the shutout in goal and helped improve the Golden Eagles’ record to 4-1 on the year.

Golden Eagles put North Idaho away late
The Golden Eagles got a great contribution from Seyit Mejia-Bello, who was involved in every one of the Golden Eagles’ goals in their 3-1 victory over North Idaho College on Sept. 8. Mejia-Bello gave LCCC the lead when she converted on a penalty kick in the 38th minute.
North Idaho responded early in the second half as Jaime Gates tied things up at 1-1 in the 49th minute. Mejia-Bello then found Yuko Shinomiya in the 75th minute to regain the lead for the Golden Eagles. Mejia-Bello got her second goal of the game in the 80th minute on a ball from Francesca Ali to secure the 3-1 victory.
Up next, the Golden Eagles open up region play when they host Trinidad State Junior College and Otero Junior College at 4 p.m. on Sept.13 and 14. The Golden Eagles finish the weekend with a 5-1-0 record.
