Department makes environmental and cost-effective changes.

The Integrated Technology Services (ITS) department at Laramie County Community College is going green. This semester, there will be some changes in the way some technology on campus is used. All these changes are an effort to be more green and cost effective.

MS Office Application Download
LCCC students and employees will now be able to download Microsoft Office Suite applications digitally at http://lccc.onthehub.com. ITS usually distributes more than 1,000 disks to students and employees every year for installation on personal computers. This online option is free for students and $9.75 for employees. Disked media is available for $20.45.

Virtualization
ITS will start to use more virtualization technology both on the front and back ends of your computer usage. The result of this is more options and more efficiency at less cost.

80 Plus
The majority of the desktop computers being used across campus are using 80 Plus Energy Efficient power supplies. Products certified by 80 Plus have more than 80 percent energy efficiency.

Windows 7 Power Management
The college is making the transition to using the Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 has more power management options, which results in more efficient power usage.

Print Management
ITS is looking into implementing a print management system that will help the college eliminate a lot of waste and save resources.
