To better protect you and your belongings, as well as the entire Laramie County Community College campus, Campus Safety and Security is taking a more active role.
Campus Safety and Security personnel will begin ticketing for parking violations in August. These tickets will involve a monetary fee, so be sure to park responsibly. Parking improperly (parking on a yellow line or in a yellow curb area, fire lane, loading zone, on a sidewalk, in a residence hall-only spot, in an emergency or service vehicle space or in a no parking zone; blocking a crosswalk; or double-parking) will result in a $30 ticket. Unauthorized parking in a handicapped space carries a $60 fine. Students who fail to pay the tickets will not be able to register for classes, get their transcripts or graduate. In extreme cases of irresponsible parking or failure to pay fines, boots may be placed on offenders’ cars. The boots prevent the vehicle from moving and won’t be removed until the fines are paid.
In addition, Campus Safety and Security is asking for your vehicle registration information. The information will be used only in the event of an emergency or incident, and will never be shared with anyone not affiliated with law enforcement. Instances when having your registration on file at Campus Safety & Security may include, but are not limited to:
- Damage to your vehicle in the parking lot – Campus Safety & Security can alert you immediately.
- Emergency campus closure – Campus Safety & Security will know who is still on campus and come find you in case you need assistance.
- Unauthorized people on campus – An unregistered vehicle could mean a person is on campus who shouldn’t be. Campus Safety & Security will take appropriate action.
