Volleyball team wins two on the road

Golden Eagles pick up two conference wins.

The seventh-ranked Laramie County Community College volleyball team picked up two conference wins on the road. The team traveled to Riverton, Wyo., Oct. 8 to take on Central Wyoming College and then to Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., on Oct. 9.

Central Wyoming came out strong and beat the Golden Eagles in the first two games, but the Golden Eagles regrouped and won the next three games to take the match.

Match: LCCC vs. Central Wyoming College. LCCC won 20-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-11.
Michelle Montico had 40 assists and Maria Voitenko had 22 kills.

On Saturday, the Golden Eagles didn’t wait around for the Trappers to warm up. LCCC finished Central in three sets.

Match: LCCC vs. Northwest College. LCCC won 26-24, 25-16, 25-21.
Maria Voitenko had 11 kills and Luiza Griz had 15 digs.

The Golden Eagles (23-2 overall, 8-1 Region IX) will host Casper College (11-14) on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. All Golden Eagle athletic home events are free.
