Rodrigo Silva, Laramie County Community College
men’s basketball sophomore center was named the Division I Player of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). He earned this award after dominating the paint last weekend and averaging a triple-double over the course of two games.
The 6-10 sophomore from Brazil put up impressive numbers on Friday in an 86-68 victory over Otero Junior College, posting 18 points, 13 rebounds, eight blocks and two assists. The next day, Silva continued his dominance and had a triple-double, filling up the stat sheet with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 13 blocks in a 91-85 win over Lamar Community College.
Silva’s hot streak continued in Tuesday night’s annihilation of the Plainsmen from Northeastern Junior College and came close to yet another triple-double, with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks in the 94-67 win.
