Volleyball team splits final home games

LCCC is 11-17 this season.

The Laramie County Community College volleyball team had two home games over the weekend, and the team won one and lost the other. The Golden Eagles got a victory over Sheridan College on Friday, Oct. 25, in four sets and suffered a defeat against Northwest College on Saturday, Oct. 26, in three sets.

 
The Golden Eagles got off to a great start against Sheridan, taking the first set 25-17. They had a little setback in set two and dropped it 12-25. That little setback did not affect the Golden Eagles as they got back on track in the third set. A 25-20 third set victory led to some momentum in the fourth set. LCCC held on and took the match by winning the fourth set 28-26.

 
As a unit the Golden Eagles had a total of 50 kills, 13 errors, 38 assist, 9 block assists, three solo blocks, and 99 digs.
Leading the way defensively was libero sophomore Madi Lacey, who had 30 digs on the evening. Sophomore Ambre Desaulney led with 14 kills, and fellow sophomore Rory McCloy tallied 32 assists.

With the victory the Golden Eagles improve to 11-16 on the year and 3-7 in Region IX North.

Golden Eagles fall in final home game
The Golden Eagles were back in action Saturday, Oct. 26, as they hosted the Northwest College Trappers. The Golden Eagles were looking to continue where they left off the previous night, but the Trappers got the best of LCCC and took the match in three sets 22-25, 22-25, and 18-25.

As a team, the Golden Eagles had 32 kills, eight errors on 89 attempts. As a group they also had 30 assists, 1 solo block, 6 block assists, 40 digs, two serves for aces and 6 errors on serves. Sophomore Patience Jones led the way for the Golden Eagles with eight kills, three block assists, one dig, one serve for ace and no errors.

The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 11-17 on the year and 3-8 in Region IX North.
 
The Golden Eagles next hit the road to Torrington, Wyo., for a match against Eastern Wyoming College on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The Eagles won that match 3-1. A recap of that game is forthcoming. The Golden Eagles’ next match is in Sterling, Colo., on Oct. 31, against Northeastern Junior College. This will be the final regular season match for the Golden Eagles before the Region IX Tournament.
