Women's soccer team adds two more victories

Women’s soccer team takes care of Mustangs

The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles women’s soccer team shut down the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs 5-0 on Oct. 9 in Rock Springs, Wyo.

The Golden Eagles got things rolling early, sophomore Seyit Mejia-Bello got started the scoring in the 3rd minute when here shot deflected off the goalkeeper and into the net. Two minutes later, Mejia-Bello was at it again this time finding sophomore Taylor Hockley on a through ball in the 5th minute to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. The Golden Eagles would take that lead into halftime.

The second half would create more opportunities for the Golden Eagles and a Mejia-Bello cross would find Hockley whose goal would give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead 56 minutes in. In the 72th minute, freshman Brittany Barenz would connect with freshman Kaitlin Boothe to make the score 4-0. Freshman Sierra Kuno would cap things off for the Golden Eagles in the 90th minute, capitalizing on a corner kick from sophomore Victoria Arenas.
 
The 5-0 victory improves the Golden Eagles' record to 12-2-1 and 7-1-1 in Region IX.

Golden Eagles shut out Cougars
The Golden Eagles women’s soccer team continued on their tear shutting down the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars 6-0 on Oct. 11 at LCCC.

Taylor Hockley got things going in the 14th minute striking a ball after the opposing goalkeeper was unable to secure it. Sophomore Francesca Ali would make it 2-0 in the 32nd minute converting on a corner kick from Victoria Arenas. Two minutes later Ali was involved again, this time finding Hockley, who tallied her team-leading 18th goal of the year. Just before half the Golden Eagles would get another goal in the 42nd minute when Sayit Mejia-Bello converted on a penalty kick.

Kaitlin Boothe would make it 5-0 in the 67th minute when she was able to dribble by two defenders on the right side of the field and connect on the far post. Freshman Morgan Wyant would wrap things up in the 69th minute with a goal off a cross by Boothe.

The Golden Eagles have outscored their last three opponents 20-2. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 13-2-1 on the year and 8-1-1 in Region IX. Up next the Golden Eagles hit the road for matches against Sheridan and Northwest College on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.
