The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team
opened their regular season with a 9-0 shutout against Hesston College from Hesston, Kan., on Aug. 28 on the road. LCCC took control from the start of the game. Jakob Baraket scored the first goal in the 17th minute, who was assisted by Carlos Fernandes. The second goal came from Guilherme Andrade, assisted by Sam Hickman in the 30th minute. The final first-half goal came from Tyler Arbuckle, assisted by Fernandes in the 36th minute. The halftime score was 3-0.
The Golden Eagles had more to prove in the second half and scored six more unanswered goals. LCCC’s offense was also its best defense as Hesston wasn’t able to hold possession of the ball much during the match. Box Score

The men's team hosted nationally ranked Monroe Community College from Rochester, N.Y., on Aug. 29. The Golden Eagles came out strong and controlled the pace of the game, winning 2-1. Jakob Baraket scored the first goal of the match and was assisted by Jorge Arenas in the 22nd minute. Landon Horst scored from 30 yards out, assisted by Guilherme Andrade in the 37th minute. The halftime score was 2-0.
LCCC still maintained control of the game in the second half until a foul was called in the last eight minutes, just outside of the penalty box. Monroe’s Michael Collier scored on a free kick in the 82nd minute. Monroe tried to put pressure on the Golden Eagles defense but to no avail.

The men’s soccer team (2-0 overall, 0-0 Region IX) will travel to Powell, Wyo., on Sept. 2 and then to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Sept. 4-5 for the Cardinal Classic.
