Friday, April 19, 2013
Portley is one of only nine freshmen nationwide honored as NJCAA All-Americans and is the first LCCC basketball All-American since 1987.

Laramie County Community College’s Deshon Portley has been named one of the nation’s best basketball players. A freshman point guard on the Golden Eagles men’s basketball team, Portley earned an honorable mention on the All American Team of the National Junior College Athletic Association. He’s the first LCCC basketball All-American since 1987.

In late March, Portley was named as one of only six players on the All Region IX First Team. Other Region IX players to earn All American honors are Casper College sophomore Remi Dibo (Second Team) and Northwest College sophomore Jeffrey Solarin (honorable mention). Portley is one of only nine freshmen honored as NJCAA All Americans.

Portley, a general studies major, is from Plano, Texas, and averaged 18.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game during the 2012-2013 season.
