Women’s soccer team loses in final of tournament

Golden Eagles win four of five for runner-up position.
 
The Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team traveled to Boulder, Colo., on Sept. 16-18 to play in the University of Colorado soccer tournament. The Golden Eagles won four out of five games and took the runner-up spot for the tournament.

In the first game, LCCC beat the St. Louis University club team 5-0. Five different Golden Eagles scored.

In the third game the competition stiffened, but the Golden Eagles dropped the Colorado State University green team 3-0. LCCC’s Delya Rosario had two assists.

In the semifinal, the Golden Eagles squared off with the Colorado University gold team. Shino Kunisawa scored the lone goal for the LCCC win.

In the championship game against Arizona State University, the Golden Eagles took the early lead but gave up two goals in the second half and lost the game 2-1. Monica Lubin had the lone goal for the Golden Eagles.

The women’s soccer team (8-2-1 overall, 2-0 Region IX) will travel to Rock Springs, Wyo., to play Western Wyoming Community College on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.
