LCCC selects new head volleyball coach

Monday, December 23, 2013
Laramie County Community College is setting up for a new era in its volleyball program. Austin Albers has been named the new LCCC volleyball coach.
Albers comes to LCCC from Sheridan College, where he has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons, as well as one season as the interim men’s soccer head coach. Before his time at Sheridan College, Albers was an assistant volleyball coach at Black Hills State University in South Dakota.

“I think Austin is a future superstar in the industry,” says Pete Cautilli, LCCC’s athletics director. “With his background and experience, his recruiting ties, and his ability to build a program, he’ll be a great asset to LCCC.”

Albers has been surrounded by athletics in general and volleyball in particular his entire life. His father was the head volleyball coach at Black Hills State University, and Albers played soccer for Western Nebraska Community College.

At Sheridan College, he was asked to step in as the interim head coach for a new men’s soccer program, and he recruited more than 20 players for the team in less than a month.

“He’s very energetic, he has a great drive, and he’s excited about his opportunities for recruiting for LCCC,” Cautilli says. “I’m looking forward to big things happening for the with Austin.”
