The 9th ranked Golden Eagles women’s soccer team
routed the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars 6-0 on Sept. 19 in Scottsbluff, Neb.
The Golden Eagles pressured the Cougar defense so hard that WNCC scored the first goal of the game against themselves on a pass back to clear the ball. In the 20th minute, LCCC’s Delyaliz Rosario passed the ball through two WNCC defenders to Sayit Mejia who put the ball past the Cougars goalie. Majia scored again in the 32nd minute, assisted by Eri Unai, and LCCC led 3-0 at halftime.
Golden Eagle Victoria Arenas started the scoring in the second half with a goal in the 59th minute. Maria Mardones split two Cougar defenders with a pass to Taylor Hockley for a goal in the 70th minute. Sarah Klepich scored the last goal of the match from a Courtney Lemmon cross. The Golden Eagles are now 3-0 in region play.

The women’s soccer team (5-1 overall, 3-0 Region IX) will travel to Trinidad, Colo., to play Trinidad State Junior College at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, and then to La Junta, Colo., to play Otero Junior College at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.
