LCCC will be home to Cheyenne’s first Little Free Library

Thursday, April 18, 2013
Little Free Library is an international program that works to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.

BooksLaramie County Community College will be home to the first Little Free Library in the community. Open to the public, the installation takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, by the blue arches on the north side of campus.

This project is made possible by the students in LCCC’s Human Services Case Management class. An international movement, Little Free Library works to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.

The students hope to have at least 17 such libraries across the city in high-traffic public locations. Anyone in the community is welcome to borrow books from these libraries, and to donate as well.

Additionally, financial donations are accepted to help with the installation of additional libraries in the community. A number of sponsors have already committed to the project, as well as those willing to build the structures.
