The Laramie County Community College rodeo team
had three members win event titles at the Central Wyoming College rodeo Sept. 17-19 rodeo in Riverton. The rodeo women earned 175 points and fifth place, and the men’s team racked up 315 points, also good for fifth in the team standings.
- Ty Taypotat tied in bareback riding for first and second in the average with 143 points on two rides. His 76-point ride won the first round and his 67-point ride was fourth in the second round.
- Loncey Johnson was second in the first round of bull riding with a 77-point ride and his 75-point ride in the short round gave him the average win with 152 points. Johnson added 170 points to the men's team total.
- Raelynn Keller tied for first and second in the long round of barrel racing with a time of 18.08, and then turned in the fastest time of the rodeo in the short round with a 17.99. Keller's time of 36.09 was two tenths faster than the second-place time and won her the CWC barrel racing title.
- Dalton Harris teamed up with Gillette College’s Marlys McGuire to place third in the short round and third in the average in team roping.
“We had a very good weekend,” LCCC rodeo coach David Browder said. “This is the best rodeo we’ve had since my start here at LCCC, and it’s only going to get better.”
