The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team
traveled to Scottsbluff, Neb., on Sept. 22 and lost 3-2 in a hard-fought game against conference foe Western Nebraska Community College.
The Golden Eagles controlled most of the possession in the game, but couldn’t get one past the WNCC goalie in the first half. The Cougars had three shots on goal and made two in the 10th and 27th minutes of play.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles made a formation change and had a barrage of shots, outshooting WNCC 37 to seven. The Golden Eagles put 20 of those shots on goal. In the 48th minute, Casey Allen was fouled in the goal box and a penalty kick was awarded. Allen placed the free kick past the Cougars’ goalkeeper. In the 60th minute, Cord Stimpson dribbled the ball down the right side line through the WNCC defense and passed the ball to an open Guilherme Andrade, who scored the tying goal. The final goal of the match came in the 80th minute when the WNCC goalie punted the ball over the LCCC defense and a Cougar forward was able to run it down and beat the Golden Eagles goalie for the game winner.Box Score
