The Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team won its home opener 78-75 against Northwest College Thursday night in a thriller.
The Golden Eagles fell behind early in the first half and trailed much of the second half but showed a lot of fight. In the second half, LCCC trailed by 13 points with 7:18 to play, but turned up its defense, which led to some easy transition baskets. With 1:40 to play, the Golden Eagles took their first lead since their opening score of the game. After a couple of free throws from Northwest, the game was tied again with 22 seconds remaining. LCCC’s Terrance Dent hit a clutch three-point shot in the team’s final possession for the win.
Davin Anderson led the way with 27 points including 14-for-17 from the free-throw line. Terrance Dent added 21 points. Romaric Lasme recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds; he also had five blocks.
The team will travel to Torrington, Wyo., for a pair of games in the Eastern Wyoming Classic on Nov. 13-14.
