Basketball team loses in double OT

Wednesday, November 07, 2012
Julian Chiera scores 23.
There was a rumble in the Eagles’ nest, with the Golden Eagles men's basketball team hosting the Casper College Thunderbirds on Nov. 6. LCCC took the Thunderbirds into two overtimes before suffering a 97-88 defeat.

The gym was packed to see how LCCC would match up with the No. 11 team in the nation. The Eagles were able to keep up the tempo and matched up well with Casper. It was back and forth with the lead throughout the first half, with the game ending up tied 35-35 at halftime. Midway through the second half, Casper College pulled away from the Eagles, but LCCC managed to come back and force overtime with a score of 68-68. In the first overtime, both teams struggled to score. LCCC had a chance to win it with the last shot, but the ball fell short of the rim and the teams remained tied at 76. In the second overtime the Thunderbirds made three quick threes, and stretched their lead to the eventual win.
