Volleyball team crushes competition at first tourney

Golden Eagles win four matches, including 14th-ranked Pratt at Lamar Tourney.
 
The 21st-ranked Laramie County Community College volleyball team had a great start to the season in the Lamar Volleyball Tournament last weekend, winning all four matches without dropping a single game.

Aug. 27
Match 1: LCCC vs. 14th-ranked Pratt Community College. LCCC won 25-19, 25-16, 25-22.
Maria Voitenko had 12 kills, Shelby Johnson and Hanna White each had 17 assists.

Match 2: LCCC vs. Dodge City Community College. LCCC won 25-17, 25-10, 25-19.
Maria Voitenko had 10 kills, Hannah White added 10 assists.

Aug. 28
Match 3: LCCC vs. Seward Community College. LCCC won 25-13, 25-13, 25-22.

Match 4: LCCC vs. Chandler-Gilbert Community College. LCCC won 25-18, 25-14, 25-20.
Between the two games, Maria Voitenko had 27 kills and Shelby Johnson had 38 assists.

The Golden Eagles (4-0 overall, 0-0 Region IX) will host the LCCC Labor Day Classic Tournament Sept. 3-4. Competing in the tournament is Dodge City Community College, Eastern Wyoming College, Hastings College Junior Varsity, Indian Hills Community College and Lamar Community College. Matches begin at 10 a.m. on both days.
