Friday, April 04, 2014
Following another highly successful season, Laramie County Community College women’s soccer sophomores Francesca Ali and Taylor Hockley have committed with four-year programs.

Ali has signed with Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky., and Hockley signed with Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C.

Ali, a sophomore center midfielder from London, England, was a 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American second team selection and was also a two-time first team All-Region IX performer. At LCCC, she scored 11 goals and dished out six assists for her career.

“I’m very excited to join the program,” Ali said. “The style of play, coaching staff, theater program and success all led to my decision.”

Ali will study theater at Lindsey Wilson which is affiliated with the NAIA in athletics. The team won the national championship in 2012. Last year, it finished 21-4 and fell in the semifinals of the NAIA tournament.

Hockley, a sophomore forward from Casper, Wyo., is a two-time NSCAA All-American. She was also a National Junior College Athletic Association first team All-American this past season. In addition to these achievements, she was a two-time first team All-Region IX election and was named Player of the Year in the region as well. During her LCCC career, Hockley compiled a total 32 goals and 10 assists.

“I really enjoyed my visit out in North Carolina,” stated Hockley. “I like what they have to offer as a top-tier Division 2 program.”

Hockley will graduate in May with a degree in general studies and plans to major in exercise science at Lenoir-Rhyne. The team finished the most recent season ranked 22nd in the country with a 14-4-2 record.
