Women's soccer team tallies two victories and a tie

Busy weekend for women's soccer on the road.
Women’s soccer team drops Western Nebraska CC

The 11th-ranked Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team beat the Cougars of Western Nebraska Community College 5-0 on Sept. 28 in Scottsbluff, Neb.

It didn’t take long for the Golden Eagles to find the back of the net in the first half. Junko Honda passed the ball to Shino Kunisawa in the ninth minute for the first goal of the game. Kunisawa scored again with a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 45th minute the Cougars were called for a foul in the penalty box. LCCC’s Jezmine Lora converted the penalty kick for a 3-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Golden Eagle Vanessa Alexander scored an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute. Honda found an open Monica Lubin for a goal in the 85th minute. Marissa Schultz and the Golden Eagle defense are credited for the shutout.

No. 11 Golden Eagles beat No. 3 Monroe Community College

The 11th-ranked Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team drops 3rd-ranked Monroe Community College 2-1 in overtime, on Sept. 30 in Rochester, N.Y.

Monroe opened the game with a quick goal in the third minute of play, scored by Kayleen O’Brien, assisted by Karly Tolentino. Golden Eagle Shino Kunisawa tied the game in the 34th minute, and the game went into overtime. LCCC’s Monica Lubin passed the ball to an open Vanessa Alexander to score the game-winning goal in the 94th minute.

Golden Eagles draw with Schoolcraft Community College

LCCC tied Schoolcraft Community College 0-0 in the second game in Rochester, N.Y., on Oct. 1. Both teams had chances to score, but after two overtime periods, the game remained scoreless. Golden Eagle goalie Marissa Schultz and the LCCC defense are credited for their ninth shutout of the season.
