Men’s soccer team loses in Region IX semifinal

Monday, October 25, 2010
Golden Eagles end season 10-7-2 overall, 4-3-2 Region IX.
The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team was defeated by Northwest College 2-1 in overtime on Friday in Scottsbluff, Neb., in the Region IX semifinal.

With the wind and the rain, both teams struggled to take control in the first half. The score was tied at zero. LCCC started to get things going in the second half when Sam Hickman was called for a foul and was sent off. The Golden Eagles had to play a man down for the rest of the game, so the players stepped up their play. Cord Stimpson put LCCC on the scoreboard in the 65th minute, assisted by Jorge Arenas. As time winded down, the Trappers kept pressuring the Golden Eagles defense and with five minutes left, they scored, tying the game and forcing overtime. Being a man down, the Golden Eagles couldn’t handle the offensive pressure and surrendered a goal to the Trappers.

The Golden Eagles men’s soccer (10-7-2 overall, 4-3-2 Region IX) season has ended.
