Basketball team wins two at Golden Eagle Classic

LCCC drops Western Wyoming Community College and Garden City Community College.
Laramie County Community College hosted the Golden Eagle Classic men's basketball tournament Nov. 16-17.

On Nov. 17, the Golden Eagles beat the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs 72-65.

The Eagles didn’t have much of a problem controlling the game and led 30-26 at halftime. They continued to maintain control through the second half. LCCC guard Deshon Portley led all scorers with 21 points. Pat Stephens had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

On Nov. 16, LCCC handed Garden City Community College their second loss of the season with a 75-57 thumping.
The Golden Eagles applied some big defensive pressure in the first half and allowed just 18 points by the Broncbusters. In the second half LCCC turned up the offense and scored 44 points to seal the win.

The Golden Eagles (6-1) will travel to Rock Springs, Wyo., for the Western Wyoming Classic, Nov. 23-24. On Nov. 23, LCCC will play Central Wyoming College (3-0) at 4 p.m. and then on Nov. 24 they will have a rematch with Western Wyoming Community College (0-3) at 6 p.m.
