Men’s soccer shuts out Northeastern

The men’s soccer team is 6-3 overall, 4-0 in Region IX.

The Golden Eagles men's soccer team gained another region win on the road defeating Northeastern Junior College 5-0 on Sept. 22 in Sterling, Colo.

Golden Eagle Gleydson Neri scored the lone goal of the first half off an assist from Peterson Neri in the 6th minute. In the second half LCCC didn’t get into a scoring groove until the 72nd minute when Jesse Molina passed the ball through two Plainsmen defenders to Fernando Perez for a goal. In the 74th minute, Molina collected a rebound off the Plainsmen defender and blasted the ball into the upper corner of the goal. In the 80th minute, Wyatt Witty dribbled the ball to the right side of the goal box and passed the ball back to an open Raul Gonzalez for another goal. The final goal came in the 89th minute from a Gonzalez pass to Perez, who dribbled passed the NJC goalie.

The men’s soccer team (6-3 overall, 4-0 Region IX) will travel to Trinidad, Colo., to play Trinidad State Junior College at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, and then to La Junta, Colo., to play No. 15 nationally ranked Otero Junior College at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.
