The Laramie County Community College women’s rodeo team
took eighth place with 20 points in the Eastern Wyoming College Rodeo in Torrington, Wyo., April 5-7. The men’s team finished tied for 10th place with 40 points.
Several individuals turned in great performances with five athletes appearing in the championship round Sunday afternoon. Two LCCC student-athletes made the finals in the goat tying. Ashley Kroul placed eighth out of 45 entries in the goat tying with a time of 15.6 on two runs and earned 20 points. Katelynn Ellis placed sixth in the first round and ninth overall. Dillon Simonson placed seventh overall in steer wrestling out of 45 entries earning 40 points. Chance Englebert started in seventh place in bareback riding but didn’t qualify on Sunday. The brother duo of Cash and Reed Merritt started in 10th place out of 68 entries in the team roping but did not qualify on Sunday. Reed competes for the University of Wyoming.

- Ashley Kroul placed eighth in goat tying with a combined time of 15.6.
- Katelyn Ellis placed ninth in goat tying with a combined time of 7.6.
The overall region standings have the women’s team in 10th place with 425 points, and the men’s team moves up one spot for 10th place with 540 points.
The LCCC rodeo team will travel to Casper, Wyo., April 19-21 for the Casper College Rodeo. Rodeo results can be found at www.collegerodeo.com
