Men’s soccer team loses first game of season

Golden Eagles are 5-1-1 overall.

The Golden Eagles men’s soccer team lost its first game of the season 1-0 on the road in La Junta, Colo., against Region IX opponent, 14th-ranked Otero Junior College, on Sept. 17.

The game was evenly played and both teams split possession. Defense appeared to be the focus for both teams, as there were only of nine shots on goal for the game.

The Golden Eagles put pressure on the Rattlers defense in the second half but couldn’t get a clear shot at the goal. In the 65th minute, the Rattlers crossed a ball into the LCCC goal box and a Rattler put the ball into the net.

The men’s soccer team (5-1-1 overall, 2-1 Region IX) will host Northwest College on Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. and then second-ranked Barton County College on Sept. 25 at noon. All the Golden Eagle athletic home games are free.
