The 17th ranked Golden Eagles women’s soccer team
dominated the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars 5-0 on Oct. 3 in Cheyenne, Wyo.
The cold conditions made it hard for the teams to get going. LCCC’s Francesca Ali scored the lone goal of the first half, assisted by Courtney Lemmon. In the second half the Golden Eagles used the wind to their advantage and opened up a rally of goals. In the 52nd minute, Taylor Hockley crossed the ball to Sayit Mejia for a goal. A minute later, Ali passed the ball to Hockley for a score. In the 58th minute, Mejia crossed the ball to Ali for another goal. The final goal of the match was scored by Mejia, assisted by Megan Pomeroy. Goalkeepers Marissa Schultz and Jessica England are credited with the shutout.
