The Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team
started its road trip with a match in La Junta, Colo., on Friday, Oct. 4. Golden Eagles squared off with the Rattlers from Otero Junior College. These two teams met up just five days earlier and drew 1-1. Friday night, the Rattlers got the best of the No. 3 Golden Eagles with a late goal and a 1-0 victory.
The first half remained pretty steady as both teams were unable to find the net. Things picked up in the second half, and both teams had good looks at the goal. Otero was able to break the tie in the 84th minute when Jessie Parra found Darian Drake, whose shot took a deflection and found its way over Jesse Bradley’s head and into the net.
Seyit Mejia Bello tried to equalize with a little over a minute remaining, but her shot struck the crossbar, and the Rattlers hung on for a 1-0 victory.

It didn’t take long for the Golden Eagles to get on the board as Seyit Mejia-Bello found the net in the third minute on a pass from Taylor Hockley. Freshman Morgan Wyant tacked on the second goal in the 10th minute with an assist from Victoria Arenas. Francesca Ali found Hockley in the 17th minute to make it 3-0.

The Golden Eagles scored once more before halftime as Sierra Kuno got on the board on a pass from Kaitlin Boothe.
Trinidad narrowed the gap with a goal in the 63rd minute, but Hockley and the Golden Eagles answered back with goals in the 65th minute. Brittany Barenz spotted out Boothe in the 74th minute, giving the Golden Eagles their eight goal of the match.
