Golden Eagles shut out Western Nebraska men’s soccer team

The 16th-ranked Golden Eagles men’s soccer team traveled to Scottsbluff, Neb., on Sept. 28 and shut out Western Nebraska Community College 3-0.

The Eagles went after the Cougars' goal from the first whistle. Eight minutes into the game, Golden Eagle Alfonso Perea put one past the Cougars' goalie for the first point, assisted by Landon Horst. Early in the second half, the Eagles applied some strong pressure on the Cougar "d," which resulted in WNCC scoring a goal on itself. The final goal was scored off a free kick taken by LCCC’s Peterson Neri.

The men’s soccer team (8-1-1 overall, 4-1 Region IX) will travel to Rock Springs, Wyo., on Sept. 30 to play Western Wyoming Community College at 3 p.m. and then to Powell, Wyo., on Oct. 1 to play Northwest College at 2 p.m.
