Friday also was spirit squad Sophomore Night. Congrats and thanks to our sophomore cheer members!

Golden Eagles dump Western Wyoming for the second time
On Dec. 10, the Golden Eagles traveled to Rock Springs to play the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs on their home hardwood, and LCCC won the hard-fought battle 81-80. In Saturday’s contest, the Mustangs couldn’t handle the improved Golden Eagle defense that forced Western Wyoming into 20 turnovers as LCCC stole the 90-81 win. LCCC’s Rodrigo Silva helped seal the victory with 23 points, four out of five 3-point field goals, 18 rebounds and nine blocks.

Shepherd’s threes sink Rustlers
In the first six minutes of the game against Central Wyoming College, the Golden Eagles and the Rustlers were both trading baskets, and it was shaping up to be a back and forth game. But LCCC stepped it up on both ends of the court and ultimately burned the Rustlers 94-79. LCCC's Travis Shepherd provided the scoring burst and ended the night with a career-high 38 points including 10 of 11 from 3-point range. Shepherd had 24 points in the first half and connected on all six of his 3-point attempts. Watch him drain one. Central Wyoming was able to cut the lead to 12 in the second half, but the sharp shooting of LCCC quickly rebuilt the lead and carried the Eagles to victory.
