Men's basketball team gets back-to-back victories

The Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team won back-to-back games at home this weekend. The Golden Eagles defeated Otero Junior College 86-68 on Friday and Lamar Community College 91-85 on Saturday.
Rodrigo Silva lands a triple double over Lamar
LCCC’s Rodrigo Silva earned a triple double (16 points, 13 rebounds and 13 blocks) and led the Golden Eagles past the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes 91-85. Silva started the game off with a swat on the first inside shot attempt by the Lopes and ended with a game high of 13 blocks. The Golden Eagles took control of the first half with a 37-32 lead. In the second half, LCCC charged forward and built a 19-point lead. With 10 minutes to play, the Runnin’ Lopes used a full-court press and forced a few turnovers, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Golden Eagles.

Golden Eagles sink Otero
LCCC handled Otero from start to finish and took the 86-68 win. The Golden Eagles’ defense looked sharp and forced the Rattlers to 14 turnovers. LCCC also out rebounded Otero 49-32. The Eagles went into the half with a commanding 43-29 lead. In the second half, Otero cut the Eagles’ lead to eight points, but LCCC regrouped and sealed the victory.
