Men's soccer team extends winning streak to 6

Wednesday, September 25, 2013
Golden Eagles shut out Northeastern Junior College.

The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team has extended its win streak to 6 games with a 3-0 win over Northeastern Junior College. Brandon Flores got the scoring started for the Golden Eagles in the 18th minute off an assist from Fernando Perez.

A nice buildup along one side of the field created space for Dimitri Sofias to run to a ball played by Chance Weidrich, and the goal gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

With the wind at their backs, the Golden Eagles continued to pressure and fire away at the goal as they racked up a total of 32 shots, with 15 of those going on goal. Jesse Molina made it 3-0 in the 85th minute to secure the win. Daniel Ainsworth is credited with the shutout, and the Golden Eagles increase their shutout streak to 5 games.
With the win the Golden Eagles have now won six straight and improve to 6-3-1 on the year and 5-0 in Region IX. Up next, the Golden Eagles host Northwest College at 1:30 p.m.
