Rough riding for LCCC’s CNFR competitors

Johnson, Sterkel and Evenson unable to place.
Laramie County Community College’s rodeo team had three competitors make it to the College National Finals Rodeo June 11-18 in Casper, Wyo. Loncey Johnson, Canler Sterkel and Dillon Evenson had a rough go in their first finals appearance and were unable to place. Johnson competed in bull riding, and Sterkel and Evenson raced in team roping.

“Loncey drew some tough bulls to ride and just wasn’t able to accomplish what he set out to do,” head coach David Browder said. “Canler and Dillon were unsuccessful in turning in a time on their first and third runs and had a long time of 17.7 on their second run.”

Browder said he could see the disappointment in his athletes but thinks this will motivate them to work harder next year.

“Regardless of their performances, they represented our college with class and I am proud of them for making it to the CNFR,” Browder said.
