The Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team
(1-3) lost 96-89 to Eastern Wyoming College (1-2) in Torrington on Tuesday.
LCCC’s Travis Shepherd scored a season-high 27 points, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range. The Golden Eagles led 38-30 late in the first half; however, a string of four consecutive turnovers by the Eagles allowed EWC to take a 39-38 lead with one minute remaining in the half. Then Shepherd connected on his fourth 3-pointer of the half, and the Eagles converted on two forced turnovers to end the half on a 7-0 spurt and took a 45-39 lead into the locker room.
After holding EWC to a total 56 points for the entire game in their first meeting, the Golden Eagles allowed 57 second-half points, and Eastern Wyoming held off the Eagles' rally to secure the victory.
LCCC shot 55 percent from the floor, including 57 percent (12 for 21) from 3-point range. Allan Saint-Gelais scored a career-high 21 points in the loss. Terrance Dent added 19 points, including 5 of 7 from beyond the arc.
The Golden Eagles’ next two games will be at home for the Golden Eagle Classic. The first game is at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 against New Mexico Junior College.
