The Laramie County Community College volleyball team
was looking to get back to .500 in region play and did so as they swept Eastern Wyoming College (25-16, 26-24, and 25-22) at home on Sept. 24.
The Golden Eagles got off to a great start and jumped out early on the Lancers and never slowed down, taking the first set 25-16. In the second set, the Lancers tried to get back on track and gained an early 7-3 lead, but the Golden Eagles answered with a run of their own and scored six consecutive points to gain the lead. This set went to the wire as the Lancers made a little run late, but the Golden Eagles didn’t let it slip away and secured the second set 26-24.
“What turned things around early in the second set for us was that we played every play through, transitioned quicker and were more aggressive with our serves,” said head coach Cindy Henning.
In the third set, the Golden Eagles continued to apply the pressure on the serves. They took the third set 25-22. With the victory, the Golden Eagles improve to 8-10 and 1-1 in the Region IX North.
Up next, the Golden Eagles hit the road for matches against Central Wyoming College and Western Wyoming College on Sept. 27 and 28.
