The LCCC Speech and Debate brought in high honors at the past two tournaments.
At the Novice National Tournament, held at Hutchinson Community College-Kan., the team placed in the top 10 out of 35 schools.
At the American Forensics Association National Individual Events tournament, held at the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire, the team earned enough points in their individual scores to earn third place in Community College Sweepstakes. This tournament was open to four-year universities and community colleges, and more than 140 contestants participated in each event.
“This is indeed a huge honor for LCCC,” said Dave Gaer, adviser and LCCC instructor. “Our students performed well on a national level. Several coaches from four-year institutions are very interested in our students transferring to their institutions.”
